Okay, here's the deal. This channel in Okinawa, Japan is several years behind in Conan airings. On May 26th, they are (finally) reaching episode 1's remaster (with episode 2 in the following week). Back then, nobody capped this in particularly good quality. Nowadays... me and my friends don't know anyone in Okinawa. Basically, what I want to know is how many of you can play 10-bit video without problems. To play 10-bit video, one of the following is recommended:

Since I'm not expecting people to just happen to know if their system plays 10-bit video right or not, I encoded a sample clip in Hi10p, in both HD and SD. Please tell me in the comments of this post if you can play both/one/none of them along with your computer specs. This should help me figure out if there'd be interest in 10-bit releases or not. Do note that I don't plan on ONLY having 10-bit releases, at least for now. Even if you can't play 10-bit files, you won't be "locked out."

This sample clip is the next episode preview that was in the remaster of Detective Conan episode 130. It has no subtitles (since it's just a test video, there would be no point).

Random trivia: The first anime episode I ever encoded in my life was Conan 137's Portuguese airing, some years back. The encode was dreadful, the aspect ratio was wrong, and the airing itself had terrible subtitles but hey, it was my first. This case is very much a nostalgia trip for me. That ancient encode of fail is available here for anyone who cares (it's called 147 because the international episode numbers were ahead by 10 due to specials being split).

Calling it 'remastered' is a bit of a stretch since all they did was upscale the original digital animation, but it's still an improvement over the DVD version, because the DVDs had some rather annoying issues (dotcrawl and rainbowing, some haloing, 30fps overlay-text) from a bad transfer that aren't seen in here. Looks a bit sharper, too. Still, since other than the prologue/op/ed/epilogue and overlay text, everything is an upscale, I chose to only release this in SD. There's really no point to having this in HD. As to whether you're better off watching this or the original 3-episode version? Up to personal preference. I personally prefer this version since the scenes that were removed to shorten this were mostly nothing but padding with no real meaning, a *ton* of repeated scenes, between the multiple episodes AND before/after eyecatches, and occasionally flashing back to Ran's fever in the present (the original version of the case had Ran delirious with fever and flashing back to the NY events, in this one she's at home and seeing a live broadcast of New York makes her remember said events).

So why am I posting a raw? Basically, I want to raise awareness to this ridiculously obscure yet pretty damn awesome show. I don't have the patience to sub this show (it's 52 episodes long and gets kinda repetitive in the middle) but I'd totally watch it if someone else were to sub it. All the raws online of this look like complete ass, and are probably VHS rips. This was ripped from the portuguese DVD release (dub-only) with the japanese audio from an online raw synchronised to it. The result is that it looks way better than every raw of this I've ever seen online. Who knows, maybe someone'll watch it and be interested in subbing it? I can try.
